Truth About Faith

Truth About Faith
Romans 10:8
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
I want to address the words of faith that we hold so dearly. I realize I spend a lot of time
around salvation, but if we get that wrong, how can we possibly know God’s Word? I surprise myself at the way in which all preach God’s Word. True delivery comes from the entire text of the recorded word. I must be careful not to teach one verse alone but look at the entire passage from which I preach. When I do this,
I find words like Trust, Truth, Faith, Belief, Grace and more are taught to us and truly become a part of my salvation.
I begin with FAITH. I read all of Hebrews 11 and I find that within these words are the true elements of faith.
The acts of men as they are revealed and spoken to by God, tell us much about their belief and their faith.
We are given in Hebrews 11:1 the true definition of faith. Many times, I will ask an unbeliever to tell me their definition of faith without using God’s Word and they can’t do it. We as believers should consider the history of faith by the record given to us by the Holy Spirit.
Did you notice that FAITH begins with the elders?
Hebrews 11:2
“For by it the elders obtained a good report.”
When I was growing up the simple truth of the Bible was preached and so was
creation.
Hebrews 11:3
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
Those that rejected God had the common sense to keep their mouths shut. I believe
in God’s creation. He took six days to create all things. Each day was determined by cycle of night and day.
Undermine this point and suddenly we think we have to comply with the world’s thinking. NO! We must understand that GOD made all things and look at this point only before pressing onward.
If Satan can make us question God and His creation, then everything else is wrong. If we question the length of time a day, then we allow death to pave the way. Suddenly, we allow billions of years instead of thousands.
We ignore God and His plan which we read about in Genesis 2:17.
“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
The Lord God did not say, “If you eat of the tree…” but “When you eat of the tree.” When Adam ate of the fruit he died in sin, Satan laughed with glee and the Lord God promised to provide salvation through another.
Did Adam and his wife understand death? Not until they received proper coverings for themselves. That’s right, Adam and Eve watched as the Lord took and killed animals for proper coverings. They saw the death of animals,
who died for them, and understood that they too would follow in like manner.
Yet, sin wants to reign. Eve thought Cain was the promised one but soon realized that he was a sinner like his parents. Afterwards, they had another son named Abel. Cain was a gardener and Abel kept the sheep. When the time came for them to sacrifice, they both brought one. Cain followed the works that Adam and Even brought. Surely,
God will accept by my hands the best the earth can provide. Abel brought a perfect lamb after the requirements God established. We read that the Lord had respect over Abel’s offering but refused Cain’s. This led to Cain’s anger. He was mad at the Lord God and took it out on Abel.
This was the truth about sin. We think God must accept me as I am. No, He doesn’t, for He will cause a change in us.
That is why Jesus came. He is God. He is eternal. He came to fulfill the promise given to Adam and Eve over 4000 years before in Genesis 3:10. I cannot say that Jesus is Lord unless I fully believe that He is God and He is born of the seed of a woman; that he proved Himself to be pure and holy and the only acceptable Lamb of God; and thus provided the way of Salvation through His death, burial and resurrection. That is truth and that
is rejected by the world.
“Only one life to live and soon is past
Only what’s done for Christ will last!”
Hoping to make the time I have left count for the glory of God.
